Ame Bibabi’s (real name Hedy de Graas) song has been a success. Many have even deemed it to be among the worst rap songs of all time. Nonetheless, the Chin Up High video clip has received over 1.7 million views on YouTube and millions of additional listens on Spofity.
Paul Elstak decided to give the song a second chance and collaborated with Restrained, a rapidly expanding hardcore DJ. Paul Elstak performed a modified version at the pornographic Pussyland Lounge Festival in Brabant. The song’s title was changed to “Party Till I Die.” The audience went absolutely bonkers, and the footage was used to create a music video.
The show’s sound engineer, Maurice ten Brink, thought it was a good story. His work was initially criticised, but the song has since become a hit with millions of viewers. Yes, even if only slightly: “The atmosphere surrounding the song is now more positive.”
“‘Chin Up High’ was included on a USB drive with other Conjunction songs,” says Ten Brink. “Conjunction is an extremely dynamic band.” I recorded three songs on the rooftop studio at Holten. Coen van de Hoevenlaak telephoned me and asked, “What are we doing with this hip-hop song?” He intends to release the song that set the ball rolling. Millions of people heard the song through American Madman Lucas’ YouTube comments.
