Andrew Dawson (born March 12, 1980, in Los Angeles, California) is a record producer, engineer, mixer, and songwriter from the United States.

Dawson has three Grammy Awards and six nominations for his work as an engineer and mixer on Kanye West’s Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010). The work was named “Best Rap Album.” Dawson was also credited for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s extra production.

Despite his early success with hip-hop artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Common, Tyler the Creator, and P.O.S., Dawson also dabbled in producing and editing records for pop, indie, and rock bands such as Fun., The Rolling Stones, The Pet Shop Boys, Sleigh Bells, Baskeley, and The Night Terror of 1927.

Dawson began playing the piano at the age of five, and by the age of sixteen, he was studying jazz and classical piano at a private music academy. Dawson interned at a recording studio in Minneapolis during his senior year, mixing music for summer outdoor concerts.

Dawson then went on to study music production and engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Dawson worked at Lexicon, a company known for producing digital reverb units such as the 480L, while living in the Boston area. Dawson relocated to New York City in 2001, where he worked as an assistant and then as a staff engineer at Sony Music Studios. Dawson prefers to work on important projects and collaborate with artists who are equally passionate about recording because of his passion for music.
