Gan had been with the organisation for less than two years prior to his appointment as CEO of OnlyFans in December 2021. She joined the London-based social platform as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in September 2020.

Gan, 37, took over as CEO after company founder Tim Stokely resigned in December 2021, as previously reported by Insider. OnlyFans announced in August 2021 that it would prohibit sexually explicit content, only to reverse its decision a few weeks later. The departure of Stockley occurs months after reunification.

Gan’s selection as CEO was unexpected after his brief tenure at OnlyFans. However, Gan stated that her social skills distinguish her from other tech CEOs. “You have business leaders who attended prestigious Ivy League universities, and they do not respond.” “I am the exact opposite,” Gan told TIME in an interview in July 2022.

Gan did not respond to an inquiry from Insider. Fortune reports that Gan was born in Mumbai and raised in Virginia as an only child.

She formerly lived in Los Angeles before moving to Miami. She graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Organizational Communications.

Later, Gan received an online certificate in entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School.
