Eddie Hearn did not know where to look as boxer Avril Mathie stripped down to a bright yellow bikini during Friday’s live weigh-in. Saturday evening, the 35-year-old weighed in prior to her super bantamweight bout against Ramla Ali at the Hulu Theater in New York’s Madison Square Garden. On their hole cards, they will face Amanda Serrano and Erica Cruz in a major unification match.
At the weigh-in, however, it was Marty who stole the show, stunning fans and viewers alike with her stunning outfit choices and stunning physique. Promoter Hearn and opponent Ali both stared straight ahead as Marty reached the 121.4-pound mark. Both competitors are unbeaten in the race for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Junior Featherweight Championship: Marty with a record of 8 wins and 1 loss, and Ali with a perfect 7 victories.
Marty told ITR Boxing, when asked how she felt before the fight, “So excited, really excited.” “I believe it will be a really good fight for me, and I have a very good chance of winning the battle.”
The Australian residing in Miami has been boxing for ten years and initially began Muay Thai to improve his fitness. “For the first two years, I never really took it seriously; it was merely a pastime for me.” When I broke up with my ex—we used to go to the gym frequently together—I stayed in Australia and did not move to another country sooner.
Mathie stated that she travelled extensively while modelling, frequently visiting Las Vegas, where she met many individuals from the boxing industry. She stated, “The time I spent in Las Vegas made me realise I needed to come here and meet people who would give you a chance.”
Mathie will now perform at the historic Madison Square Garden on the biggest night of her career to date.Marty said of Ali, “I believe she is an incredible fighter, but very one-dimensional.” She excels in this dimension but struggles somewhat in others.
“She is somewhat uncomfortable when she walks on her back foot, as she does not handle pressure well.” She has never sparred with someone like me before, and every week I spar with girls who are more skilled than she is.
