Defence big Babcock has landed a £400million contract to operate the UK Ministry of Defence’s military satellite tv for pc communications system.
Britain’s second-largest defence contractor, which builds warships resembling the Type 31 frigate, has signed a six-year deal to handle the Skynet 6 programme, which helps greater than 400 jobs in south-west England.
Babcock will run and oversee a constellation of military satellites, floor stations and consumer terminals.

The agency’s share worth was buoyed by the information, closing up 1.6 per cent, or 4.8p, at 308.80p.
‘Space is more and more vital for sustaining battlefield benefit,’ defence procurement minister Alex Chalk stated.
Babcock boss David Lockwood stated the enterprise and its companions would ‘present a high-tech answer which mixes the availability, affordability and functionality the UK wants.’
Babcock has benefitted from demand for coaching experience as military forces targeted on ‘readiness’ in the wake of battle in Ukraine.
It has supported efforts to assist Ukraine with coaching and tools.
