He purchased the motorcycle in May, but failed a road test, Brazilian network TV Globo reported.

Before going into surgery Wednesday, Krupp told his lawyer, William Pena, that the motorcycle brakes failed as he approached Cardim.

“There was no deceit. No one leaves the house to kill anyone by being run over,” Pena told reporters on Thursday. “’Oh, I’m going to run over someone on the corner’. There is a certain exaggeration with everything they are publishing.” 

But Krupp is said to have been speeding, exceeding 90 miles per hour before he hit the teenager. 

Security cameras stationed at several businesses on Lúcio Costa Avenue showed speeding on the left lane.

‘He is understood, each weekend he spends right here. Those noisy bikes, they fly by right here, generally they go by right here, and after we take a look at it, it is already distant’, a kiosk employee who noticed the accident on Saturday, instructed Globo.
