Inside one of TV’s greatest bust-ups as Andrew Denton’s former producing partner reveals how his ‘anger’ ended their working relationship

The former producing partner of acclaimed Australian TV presenter Andrew Denton has revealed how their working relationship imploded.

Anita Jacoby, who labored with Denton on the top-rating ABC chat present Enough Rope (2003-2008) says in her new memoir she generally ended up on the receiving finish of the funnyman’s dangerous mood.

Jacoby, a former producer for 60 Minutes and Good Morning Australia, had an excellent working relationship with Denton, 62, however issues soured between them when she determined to half firm.

The companions fell out in 2012 when Denton merged his firm Zapruder’s Other Films with TV producers Cordell Jigsaw.

Before that time, the Zapruder’s staff was accountable for a sequence of fashionable authentic exhibits over an 11-year interval.

They included ABC packages Elders with Andrew Denton, The Gruen Transfer (later Gruen), Hungry Beast and Channel 10 panel present Can of Worms, amongst others.

But it was Enough Rope that turned a basic with its line-up of celebrity friends, together with former U.S. president Bill Clinton, Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Carey.

At the time of their rift, Jacoby stated she was resigning from Denton’s firm as managing director for health and household causes, reviews TV Tonight.

Jacoby now says in her e book books/Secrets-Beyond-the-Screen/Anita-Jacoby/9781920727826″>Secrets Beyond the Screen that she couldn’t work in the mixed operation as a result of it meant being ‘relegated down the meals chain’.

Denton was apparently sad with Jacoby’s resolution.

She writes in her e book: ‘This led to a significant falling out with Andrew.

‘He needed out and I used to be to be the key continuity individual with the company reminiscence, the one to make sure the Zapruder tradition remained alive and robust underneath the new possession construction.

‘I don’t assume Andrew appreciated how the change from merger to acquisition would impression my function.’

Jacoby says of working with Denton: ‘Great comedians and satirists usually have a darker facet to them.

‘Andrew has talked publicly about the anger he grew up with, courtesy of his father, creator Kit Denton. 

‘I used to be generally on the receiving finish of that anger. If he went too far for my consolation he would normally apologise – however not at all times.’

After leaving Zapruder’s Other Films, Jacoby ran ITV Australia and offered the quiz present format The Chase to Channel Seven and the actuality TV franchise I’m a celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! to Channel 10.

Jacoby is now Chair of the ABC’s Advisory Council and is an Associate Member of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
