Police have been known as to the 35-year-old man’s Padbury house round 10pm on Sunday to help paramedics after an obvious self-harm incident.
Superintendent Tony Flack stated the person was bleeding profusely when officers arrived on scene.
‘As they’ve approached the entrance door, a pretty large male – coated in his personal blood, bare, brandishing a large knife – has run at them and sadly they’ve needed to discharge their firearm,’ Supt Flack stated on Monday.
Supt Flack stated he had seen body-worn video footage and believed officers acted each rapidly and professionally.
‘I’m very happy with the best way the officers dealt with themselves,’ he stated.
‘They actually prevented additional damage.’
Detectives remained on scene on Monday and will interview the house’s different residents as a part of their investigation.
