Gan had been with the organization for less than two years prior to his appointment as CEO of OnlyF in December 2021. She joined the London-based social platform as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in September 2020.

Gan, 37, was promoted to CEO after company founder Tim Stokely resigned in December 2021, as previously reported by Insider. OnlyFans announced in August 2021 that it would prohibit sexually explicit content, only to reverse its decision a few weeks later. The departure of Stockley occurs months after reunification.

Gan’s selection as CEO was unexpected after his brief tenure at OnlyF. But Gan stated that her interpersonal skills distinguish her from other tech CEOs. “There are business leaders who attended prestigious Ivy League universities; they are unresponsive.” “I am the exact opposite,” Gan told TIME in an interview in July 2022.

She formerly lived in Los Angeles before moving to Miami. She graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Organizational Communications.

Gan was the vice president of marketing and advertising for Cannabis Cafe in West Hollywood prior to joining OnlyF. In the beginning of her career, she worked in communication for Lowell Herb, Red Bull, and Quest Nutrition.

Gan stated at the 2022 GQ Heroes Conference, “From the outside, this unknown woman runs one of the world’s largest technology companies.” They are ideal for executive positions. She told TIME, “I come from a non-traditional background and have very strong opinions.”
