HALIFAX – Nova Scotia is overlaying a scheduled worth increase for milk in public colleges this September to assist households with the rising value of meals.
The province says its subsidy will hold the usual 250-millilitre carton of milk supplied by means of its school milk program at 40 cents as a substitute of 45 cents.
The authorities says overlaying the value increase, set by Nova Scotia’s Natural Products Marketing Council, will value the province about $72,000.
The authorities’s school milk program has costed the province between $130,000 and $230,000 per full school 12 months.
Costs are shared between the Department of Agriculture and dairy producers and processors.
Since 1974, this system has supplied milk at a decreased worth to college students enrolled at collaborating main and secondary colleges.
