A woman lying on a highway in central Australia was killed when she was hit by a car.
Northern Territory Police say the 21-year-old woman was struck in Alice Springs’ southern suburbs within the early hours of Tuesday morning.
‘Around 3.40am police acquired a report involving a pedestrian, who had been struck while lying on the Stuart Highway,’ a spokesman mentioned.
Paramedics declared the woman lifeless on the scene.

The driver remained on the accident web site till police arrived.
The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
It was the eleventh pedestrian fatality on NT roads up to now 18 months.
The majority of victims had been Indigenous and 6 concerned hit and run incidents, in line with NT police.
