Known in Palace corridors as a ‘hatchet man’ for his capability to ship dangerous information, notably referring to job cuts, it’s thought that his abilities will come in helpful.

The new King, who’s served by Private Secretary Sir Clive Alderton, already has a problem on his fingers.

Last week it emerged that dozens of Clarence House workers had been notified of redundancies throughout a service held for the Queen at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

Up to 100 staff of the King’s former official residence have been advised that they might lose their jobs.

Many workers, a few of whom have labored there for many years, had hoped that they might be amalgamated into the King’s new workplace.

But whereas some will be deployed elsewhere, others are prone to be made redundant. A letter despatched to workers from Sir Clive reportedly mentioned: ‘I respect that that is unsettling information and I needed to let of the assist that’s out there at this level.’

He added that workers offering ‘direct, shut, private assist and recommendation’ to the new King and Queen Consort would stay in submit.

It is known {that a} session interval will start after the Queen’s funeral at present.

Sir Edward, 55, joined the Royal Household in 2004, serving as the Queen’s Assistant after which Deputy Private Secretary earlier than being promoted to his present submit in 2017.

He was chargeable for overseeing the ‘Megxit’ deal struck with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex once they left their working roles inside the Royal Family to dwell in the US.
