The Ayuntamiento de Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona), which is controlled by ERC, has requested that the discoteca Waka be closed immediately after a minor reported a new sexual assault last weekend, this time inside the nightclub. “This is the second time in less than six months,” the government team said in a public letter released today.
What happened was that the Waka disco was located outside of the city’s administrative boundaries, in a neighborhood known as the Sello de Sabadell. Un industrial polgono between the towns of El Vallès and Sant Quirze, the effects of which affected a second city larger than Sabadell.
The Mossos were notified at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday that a minor had been violated in the discoteca’s interior. The young woman was attended to and informed the attacker that she had not been apprehended.
There are numerous event episodes in the Waka nightclub. Agents arrested a man in February for sexually assaulting another young woman. The San Quez Ayuntamiento had requested that the Generalitat intervene and maintain the order in the discotheque in December of the previous year after 1.000 young people fought ferociously in front of the venue. Two police officers were injured in a fight that was organized on social media to protest the racist behavior of the doormen when admitting customers to the rooms. The government team has since resigned and requested the intervention of the Generalitat.
The city council issued a statement on Wednesday expressing its full support for the victims of the weekend sexual assault. In this case, the ERC ayuntamiento has issued a statement calling on the Generalitat to stop allowing repeated sexual assaults. Como municipio, no tenemos potestad para ordenar su cierre”.
