‘Hero’ father, 47, drowns after rescuing two children caught in riptide at Welsh beach as devastated household pay tribute

Tributes have been paid to a father who died after rescuing a bunch of children who have been caught in a riptide at a Welsh beach.

Hywel Morgan, 47, had gone into the ocean at Poppit Sands Beach in St Dogmaels, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire on Friday 10 June after seeing that the group of children swimming have been coming into some issue.

An air ambulance crew was at the scene after they known as Dyfed-Powys Police at round 8.40pm final Friday, after reporting {that a} ‘variety of folks had been caught in a riptide’.

The group, together with Mr Morgan, who was from the native space, have been recovered from the ocean, with two of the children taken to hospital for checks afterwards.

But sadly, regardless of the efforts of emergency providers, the 47-year-old father couldn’t be saved and died that night.

A Dyfed Powys Police spokesman mentioned: ‘Tragically, regardless of one of the best efforts of the emergency providers, native man Hywel Morgan died after being recovered from the ocean.’ 

Loved ones have issued a brief tribute to the ‘devoted and loving father’ Mr Morgan, who was referred to as Hyw by household and associates.

‘Hyw was a hero. Despite our ache and grief, it offers us consolation that he selflessly tried to forestall others from dropping their lives,’ the household mentioned.

‘Hyw was a selfless particular person who at all times gave up his time for others. He was a faithful and loving father and was beloved and revered by all who knew him.

‘As a household, we might now like time to grieve and would ask for privateness in which to take action.’

Two children have been taken to hospital to be checked over following the incident, police confirmed.
